The gallery has strong connections in central Europe, and shows paintings and prints from all the major artistic centres in Poland, several in the Ukraine, and some in Russia.
Several outstanding Scottish artists are also shown, and their work, hung alongside that of their central European counterparts, makes an interesting juxtaposition.
In addition to visual imagery, the gallery always shows an extensive collection of the work of the best Polish and Lithuanian silversmiths working with Baltic amber to produce unique pieces of jewellery.
Other stones such as turquoise and lapis, which were traditionally traded along the great amber routes to the east, are occasionally used in conjunction with amber.
Visitors often arrive at the gallery, perched 1400 feet above sea level, curious to admire its astonishing views over a vast Highland mountain landscape. They usually stay to admire the unusual collection that the gallery has to offer.
